TASK 3

(VIDEO ACTIVITY) The Meaning behind the words

Please, watch the video entitled 'The Meaning behind the words' as many times as you want. What have you learnt? Write it down for me. My appreciation will tend to be bigger if you understand more.
Put the link to the video on your blog too.

THE MEANING BEHIND THE WORDS

The video talks about Graphology, the pseudoscience that studies and analyses the handwriting. According to the video, a graphologist can know many things about someone's personality by studying his style of writing.

They examine many features. For example, the size: if you write with big letters it means that you have a big ego and you are so confident, but if you use small letters then you're less confident. Also the spacing: if you put the words far apart you're a lonely person but if you put them close together you're always surrounded. They look at the pressure: if the words are thick and dark it means agravation or frustration; light and whispy, displeassure; constant and even, happiness and flexibility. The experts think that the shape of your As and Os could tell how open you are with people. If they are loose you're expressive but if they look tight you tend to hide your feelings.
And the last characteristic is the slant: if it goes forwards you are expressive but if it goes backwards you are shy.

After this fast graphology course, we can see interviews with some people that have different kinds of temperament: outgoing, intellectual, shy. They talk about theirselves while the narrator expounds the connection between these people's handwriting and their personality.

TASK 2

'I'll never forget when .........'
Instructions:
1. Write a text explaining about a sport event that made you very happy. Describe what happened, what people were involved and how the event made you feel.

Sport Event

I'm not very keen on sports, so I haven't seen a lot of competitions. Actually, I've just seen one, but it was so amazing that I'm sure I'll never forget it.

It was on the 6th of October in Barcelona and it was called Rebel Jam 2012. The competition took place next to a village, Tossa, in the Costa Brava.

It was a BMX competition, so each category was located in a different place. The flatland stage was on the beach: a small cove, Cala Pola. (I took a bath there and the water was crystal clear!) There was a Park of ramps that was quite good. You had to pay 50 euros to use it for 3 minutes! But if you were good, you could win much more money. There was also a Streetpark for the Street category. This one was free, so everybody was using it at the same time. Finally, there were Dirt ramps. Bikers that competed on the Dirt category went there one week before and made them by theirselves.

It lasted three days and I saw almost all the rounds. My favourite one was on street. Dan Lacey and Diogo Santos made some good tricks there. In park, Mark Webb and Harry Main won a lot of applauses from the audience with hard tricks, but I prefered Ben Hennon's style.

The last night, the Monster Team rent a club in the town to play the premiere of the video "The Hunt". After that, there was a party with all the pros.
It was a bit weird because I had seen these people in lots of BMX videos and then I was going out with them. Even the host was there. They are kind of crazy, but normal people at the end.

TASK 1

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Watch the video entitled 'First Day of High School' in the video section on the Main Page or click on the title.

2. What differences can you find when you compare the school in the video with our own school.

3. Write a text comparing the American school and our school.

Essay:

I've seen the video "First Day of School" and there are many differences between the American school and our school.

My first impression was that it was much bigger than ours. There were a lot of pictures, and schedules on the walls too. I think they do different kind of activities because there was a girl signing a paper. There were also people eating and drinking in the halls; here someone would probably call your attention.

The cafe was also much more bigger than the one in our school: there were many tables and students sitting there. I saw far more lockers on the video than we have here. But i think it's normal, because the high school seemed to be bigger so they need more tables and lockers. I also had the impression that it was cleaner that ours.

Paying attention to the rooms you could see that they have many subjects like Marketing and Arts that we don't have here.

And the last differece, which I think is the most important one, were the cheerleaders. I'm glad we don't have that here
